this article is about a recycling program that apple has. instead of throwing out your old computer cell phone, or ipod if you bring there objects into an apple store the store will recycle it for you free of charge. my discussion question is do you think if more people knew about this program more people would be motivated to purchase MAC computers or do you think that people would stay the same?

ReplyDeleteon the other hand -- why shouldn't Apple favor its customers? Something we might want to talk about more in class is how our use of a particular technology -- iPods, iPhones, PCs or even CB radios mark us as members of a particular subculture.
Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI think it is interesting that they will only recycle their own products, but then again I agree with what Dr. Bock says about favoring their customers. However, if they are running this program strictly to help recycle electronics which is how it comes across, it is really fair to charge a fee for non-apple items? Either way, it is interesting that as the battle between pc's and macs comes to a head, that programs such as these are coming to the forefront. May the best subculture win.
